The **MLD-R1 AI USB** is a plug-in USB AI accelerator powered by Mobilint's REGULUS AI SoC. It delivers **10 TOPS (INT8) of on-device AI inference performance** at just **2.4 W** of power consumption, over a single USB connection.

MLD-R1 AI USB adds AI inference to an existing laptop, desktop, or industrial PC through a USB port, with no card installation or hardware replacement. It is suited to model validation, edge prototyping, and portable devices that run models without network connectivity.

## Hardware (Host System) Prerequisites

MLD-R1 AI USB is an AI accelerator, which means it requires an external host system.

To install and use the device, ensure your system has the following:

- x86 or ARM host system
- USB 3.0 or later port, connected with the supplied USB Type-C cable

## Software Prerequisites

The MLD-R1 AI USB ships with its device software preinstalled. The host system needs the MLD-R1 host driver, available from [dl.mobilint.com](https://dl.mobilint.com).

- Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04, 24.04
- Windows 11

Applications run on the host system and reach the NPU through qb Runtime.
